Actress Julie Benz is usually centre stage by virtue of her beauty alone. Thursday night she gladly gave up the spotlight to one of her pet causes -- the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Martini was one of a handful of canine guests who managed to find forever homes as a result of the annual ball in New York last night. The gala was held at the Plaza Hotel, where a passionate crowd of animal lovers crowded into the ballroom to dine, dance and give generously to the cause.
In the end, more than $1 million was raised at the Fairy Tails event, which was emceed by renowned fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi. Other attendees included Roberta Flack and actress Lake Bell.
