Marley Shelton has appeared in more than 40 movies and TV shows since kicking off her career in 1991. Along the way she has worked beside such notables as Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mandy Moore.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Marley Shelton has prepared for a career in the entertainment industry since a very young age.
Though her mother was a teacher and a singer and her father was a director and a producer, Marley initially didn’t give much thought to following in her parents’ footsteps
-- though she began to see the allure of the business while still in high school.
She began the arduous auditioning process and landed her first gig in 1991 with a small role in the critically acclaimed drama Grand Canyon,
which featured such powerhouse performers as Kevin Kline, Steve Martin and Mary-Louise Parker.
After Grand Canyon, Marley was hooked and she spent the next several years appearing in one high-profile project after another:
The Sandlot (1993), Nixon (1995) and Pleasantville (1998), which also featured fellow up-and-comers Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maguire.
It was also around that time that Marley began establishing herself as a bona fide sex symbol
-- she landed a spot on Stuff Magazine’s 102 Sexiest Women in the World list in 2002.
But there’s little doubt that Marley’s main interest is to be taken seriously as an actress, and she has been building an impressive resume to back her up.
As she has moved up the chain of command she has performed with higher-profile stars, such as Bruce Willis, Hugh Grant and Zach Braff.
In 2006, Marley was cast in The Fifth Patient and in the highly anticipated Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino production Grind House,
which also stars Rosario Dawson, Kurt Russell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Read more
